Book Rec: The 30 Day Praise Challenge by Becky Harling.

Published August 1st 2013, David C. Cook.

I was going through a hard waiting period, and I asked God to help me know what to do, and I felt him say ‘30 days of Praise.’ Shortly after I was listening to a Christian radio program and the speaker was talking about a 30 day praise challenge they did which really helped them. I them stumbled upon this book – which was on sale – and I was certain I was meant to do this challenge.

Before this book, I really only reserved praise for church. I would thank God every day, but praise was once a week. This book changed my whole attitude to praising God. It really is the key to growing your relationship with Jesus. It helped me to wait better on God’s timing, and to trust Him.

Each day begins with a verse, followed by an invitation to praise God for some characteristic of His deity. Then you are invited to listen to a song or songs and sing praises to God. I didn’t like every song Becky picked, in that case I would sing along to one I did like. This is followed by prayer and then questions for you to ponder in your journal (you will need a separate journal for this.)

I fully enjoyed doing this challenge and recommend it if you want to get deeper in your relationship with Jesus. No matter what your circumstances, no matter if God feels far away, God wants us to praise Him, and this is a great way to start doing so regularly.

Birthday Reflections.

Today is my birthday. I woke up and the words that spilled from my lips were ‘Thank you God for my life.’

I didn’t always appreciate my life. I wasn’t always thankful for it. I spent a lot of my life unsatisfied, always wanting more, always waiting for something better to happen, for my dreams to come true instead of being content in the moment.

Until God changed my heart. I stopped focusing on what I didn’t have and truly realized what I did have. I am blessed in so many ways, and the biggest way is that I have God, and He loves me and He cares.

Each day is a blessing. None of us know how long we have. I have gone through some really hard times, life can be really rough, and I couldn’t have made it without God. I am learning to be content with what I have now and to wait for His timing with the plans He has for the rest of my life.

In the past, my adult birthdays always held a note of sadness in them as I would always reflect on what I didn’t have, but this year I am focusing on what I do have, and that makes for a much happier birthday.

So today I thank God for another year, another day, another moment I get with my family. I pray you too will be able to appreciate this day, whatever it holds for you, and may you find your contentment in Him.

May God bless you, and may you know His love today.

About Me.

Here’s some things you might like to know about me:

I’m a:

Daughter of God – a bible believing, Christ following, Christian.

Wife of one – and I pray I’ll be with the same one for life. We have survived 16 years so far. I got married young 🙂

Mother of two – both with special needs (Autism spectrum disorder), and what a blessing to be able to mother them. I now have a teenager! I can hardly believe it. Especially since my oldest was born at just 24 weeks and weighed 674 grams. Our little miracle.

Writer – If God wills it, I would like to be a published author one day. I write fiction for all ages.

Reader – I love both fiction and Christian non-fiction.

Join me on my journey as I walk with God, sharing with you all the things God has taught me.

As a former sufferer of depresson, and someone who still struggles with anxiety, I am on the quest to find my joy in Jesus.

My best advice to change your life:

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is writen in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Joshua 1:8 NKJV.

Reading God’s Word, reading devotions, and praying in the morning and at night has been the one thing that has brought my relationship with Christ closer than ever before, and I highly recommend you make His Word, and spending time with Him, a high priority in your life.

God bless.
